31 weeks

Since being pregnant, I seem to have lost my butt?! It's looking pretty flat in this picture:
I haven't taken a picture from the front in awhile...so this was quite a shock!

And there is an update on daycare this week! Last Friday we went and met with the director at the center we really liked. It was overwhelming (for me) at first when I walked in...it seemed like total chaos going on with the kids running around, etc. But we were able to have a pretty in-depth conversation with her, and she really put me at ease. They have seperate rooms for all the age differences and their preschool program comes highly recommended. I had a whole list of questions for her, but she answered most of them before I even got the chance to ask, so that was nice. The co-owner is a pediatric RN and worked in the field for several years before opening this center, and she is the one that 'runs' the infant room. Every single worker on their staff is CPR certified, even though the state doesn't require all of them to be. All and all it seems like it is going to be a really good fit for us. They will have a spot for us in spring as well. It's a huge weight off my mind to have this taken care of!

29 week appointment update

The stats:
Blood pressure fine
Still no weight gain (which is fine)
Urine fine
He's measuring right on track, HB in the 160's
She noted my feet seemed a bit swollen, but said it was probably because it was 84 degrees outside yesterday

I walked in with 3 questions/concerns for the doctor:

1. The kick-count issue. She said he seemed very active when she was checking him, and to just try and pay more attention to any movement he does. He does kick every day, I just have a hard time tracking the 10 kicks in 2 hours. I'm sure the breech factor is hampering this, but it's still frustrating.

2. This weird acid-reflux thing where I'm sleeping and I'm waken up with a mouth full of vomit. Gross! She confirmed that it was just that, acid reflux. This has only happened 2-3 times, which is plenty. She asked what I was doing now for relief...I said I'm just taking a Tums after I wake up and go back to sleep. She said this was fine, or if I wanted I could start taking a daily pill such as Nexium or Prilosec. I think since this has only happened a couple of times that I don't need (or want) to start taking something daily. So I'll stick with the Tums for now.

3. What I suspected was carpal tunnel. She confirmed that it is. My left hand falls asleep at night quite a bit, but lately my finger tips have continued to stay numb during the day. I need to get one of those braces and she said that should help.

All and all my concerns are all manageable, nothing too big.

Surprise box of goodies!

Last week in the mail I got a HUGE box of baby boy stuff from my best friend. She has 2 boys of her own but claims she's done now (I don't believe it!) so she sent me some of the things that they had outgrown.
I finally sat down last night to go through everything....it was like Christmas! Tons of cute little outfits. There were even some shoes, socks, blanket sleeper, and a swaddle wrap included. I had to at least test out the swaddle wrap!

Kick counts

At my last appointment, the doctor gave me the info on kick counts and instructions to begin doing them. Things were going well for the first few days, but I had to be very conscious of getting the counts in because he's still breech and due to that I don't feel a ton of kicks.
Well these kick counts are going to be the death of me! Friday I pretty much forgot to do them. Saturday we had our last all day long baby class, so I didn't get a chance to do them them. Saturday night I came home and laid down on the couch to do them...and promptly fell asleep. So today (Sunday) I was very aware that I hadn't done them in a couple of days.
This morning I wanted to do them so I could quit worrying about it. So I did all of the tricks to get him kicking. I ate. I had a pop for some caffeine. Neither of those worked so I had some juice and cold water, that has always worked before. But those still didn't work. So I laid down on the couch, still nothing. So I rolled over onto my belly to see if I could at least get him to move a bit. I did finally manage to get one "punch." It wasn't the 10 kicks, but it was at least something.
I went on to do some other things like mowing the lawn, picking some weeds, went for a hike in the woods with the dogs, etc. Still, he wasn't moving.
Tonight around 9:00 PM we sat down on the couch and I finally started feeling him do some very light kicks. He did about 20 within a couple of minutes, so I was able to get them in.
I'm not sure why he's been so stubborn the past few days...but he already knows how to scare his mom! I'm glad that I have a doctors appointment tomorrow so I can ask some questions!

Appointment update

Yesterday was my last monthly appointment. I was so positive that my weight would be up this time. I got on the scale and the nurse looks at my chart and says, "Hum, you're a pound less this month than you were last." UGH!
But they measured the baby and he is actually measuring a bit ahead! So no lecture about the no weight gain yet.
I also got confirmation that I passed my one hour glucose test, so that was good news. Blood pressure was still fine.
The one thing that was a bit off was my iron level. They want it above a "12", anything below a "10" and they give meds. Mine was 10.6, so no meds for me! I just have to start trying to eat more and get more iron.
I think it's crazy that my next appointment is in two weeks...it doesn't seem like much will change that quickly!
