37 week appointment update

The stats:
BP: The nurse said it was a bit high, but the doctor said it was fine.
Urine: fine
Heartrate: in the 140's
Weight: No change from last week, so I'm still at my pre-pregnancy weight.
Size: Measured a couple of days ahead.

We saw a different doctor than last week. This week was the one that thinks he is head down....he still claims he is head down. I'm still not so sure.

But there have been hardly any contractions to report, he hasn't dropped, no mucous plug loss, nothing. So when we checked out they had us schedule weekly appointments for at least two more weeks. That was pretty discouraging! I guess I have created quite a nice environment for him...he doesn't want to leave!

More 37 week pictures - Holiday this time!

In addition to the 37 week belly pictures last night, we also took a couple of quick pictures for our Christmas card. Trying to get all the pets to sit with us is impossible, so last year we quit even attempting with the cat. Two dogs are hard enough. Next year we won't have to worry about it...we'll put the sole responsibility on the new little one :) I love this first pic by the tree:

Heirloom blankets/quilts

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, Chris's parents came over and gave us a whole box of blankets that were made for Chris when he was a baby. I think it is so neat that they have kept these after all these years. I remember having one or two blankets but I have no idea what happened to them. These all have a special meaning and were hand made by a family member. I love that we're going to be using them for our son soon.
This one is a huge quilt hand made by Chris's grandmother: This is one that was hand embroidered by his other grandma, I think it's my favorite.
This one was crocheted by a great aunt:
This is another hand quilted one:

Nursery wall quote

Our sticker/quote thing came in the mail yesterday so of course I made Chris put it up last night! It looks even better than I expected! The blue and brown match the bedding perfectly!

36 week appointment update - 120308

The stats:
BP: fine
Urine: fine
Heartrate: in the 140's
Weight: I was up 2 pounds! Wow! Just as I predicted, Thanksgiving helped out! So now I'm back to being right on my pre-pregnancy weight.
Size: Measured on track.
Results of the Group B Strep from last week: Negative!

We saw the last doctor in the group that we hadn't met yet. She felt around to see the baby's position...and just as I have been speculating, she couldn't say that he was head down like the previous doctor thought! I totally don't think he has ever moved out of his breech position, but the last doctor seemed to think so. She said that they'll do an internal exam in the next week or two, depending on if I'm complaining of contractions, but so far, no contractions. Even the Braxton Hicks seem to have stopped/slowed down. I have a feeling that this little guy has settled in for the long haul and won't make his arrival until January :(

On another note, yesterday was also my 33rd birthday. Being 36 1/2 weeks pregnant sure makes me feel older than 33! But after my appointment I went for a pre-natal massage and pedicure...both very nice! Then out to dinner to celebrate my last birthday before I'm someones mom......that doesn't even sound right!
Here are a couple of the cool gifts my awesome husband surprised me with:
Diamond hoop earrings:
New pair of Ugg's...I've been wearing my others all winter, they've been great and so nice for not having to worry about slipping in my regular dress black boots:
2 dozen white roses:

36 week belly pics - 120108

36 weeks and still going strong! I feel like I'm just about to finally kick this cold that I've had for two weeks, it's been terrible! I've noticed I was a bit sleepy last night, but that might have something to do with the 2+ hour commute home on the crappy roads! It just makes me extra tense to be 9 months pregnant out on the roads.

35 week appointment update

Tuesday was my last bi-weekly appointment.
The stats:
BP: fine
Urine: fine
Heartrate: in the 140's
Weight: Down ANOTHER lb. from last time, so this means I now weigh TWO lbs less than my pre-pregnancy weight.
Size: The doctor said he was measuring "right on" for 35 weeks.

They also did my Group B Strep test this time, I'll find out the results of that next week.

So I'm starting to get crap from my entire family about not gaining any weight, but my doctor says this is fine every time I ask about it, as long as the baby keeps measuring correctly. Maybe with Thanksgiving this week I'll manage to put on a pound or two before next week's appointment.

Oh, and my co-workers have now started a baby pool at work, guessing when the big day will be. A couple have been very kind guessing December dates. But the majority of everyone is guessing in January! All the way out to January 12th right now! Holy cow, I hope he doesn't wait that long!

Being sick AND pregnant

Sunday night when I got home from my work shower I was feeling unusually fatigued...I've been feeling quite good up until now.
Well Chris started to get sick around Friday, but it didn't seem that bad. Then Saturday both Jen and Sheli said they they had been under the weather. On Sunday one of my co-workers didn't make to my shower because she was sick. And then out of nowhere...so was I. :(
Since then I have now heard the quote, "The only thing worse than being sick is being sick AND pregnant" about 20 times from people.
Yesterday I woke up with a fever so I stayed home from work...which is the first day I've missed work since I've been pregnant. Had I not been pregnant I would have just taken an ibuprofen to break the fever and gone to work..but that isn't an option now. So I stayed home and rested a bit yesterday and did a bit of work from home. Today I still have a stuff nose, sore throat, headache, and body aches, but I'm back to work.
I think the worst part is not being able to take any meds for it, which is what I would usually do, Dayquil during the day and Nyquil during the night! So for now I'm just toughing it out, drinking plenty of fluids, and continuing to take my vitamins.

Final shower - my work shower Sunday, November 16th

They totally surprised me at work. I knew that they were throwing me a baby shower, that was no secret. But when I showed up for it on Sunday, I was shocked to find out it was a "spa" themed baby shower! It was at my boss's house and as usual his wife went all out in every aspect. They hired professionals in to do manicures, facials, and massages. So in between snacking and chatting, everyone was enjoying all of the services. I had no idea this was going to happen...they really pulled one over on me!

Here are a couple of the ladies starting their facials: Just some of the wonderful food:
Me opening gifts: (everyone told me you can't tell I'm pregnant in this picture, I said it was just lucky basket placement! HA!)
ANOTHER cake!:
And me cutting the cake:
And not only were the ladies from work very generous....all of the guys in the department went in and got me a gift certificate for M-Spa! Once again it was way more than I expected. I can't believe we had four showers in 8 days time!

Shower for my side - Saturday November 15th

Saturday I had a shower for my side of the family and friends thrown by my awesome friends Sheli and Jennifer. I was happy so many people were able to attend, including some like my friend Sarah that came all the way across the state and my cousin Synthia that came almost as far. I am continually surprised at all the gifts we have been getting, nearly everything that we registered for! Everyone has been so generous!

Keeping with tradition, Chris of course had to test out the bouncer with yet another monkey we received. (We've gotten 3 monkeys....it must be a sign for our little monkey to come!) Some of the totally cute decorations they did...it was a blue/brown theme just like our nursery:
Both Sheli and Jen made me diaper cakes, totally cute. This is the one that Jen did:
These are the favors that Sheli did...cute little cookies wrapped up. They must have been delicious because Chris ate them all before I even tried one!

33 week appointment update

Monday was my bi-weekly appointment.
The stats:
BP: fine, a little high for me, but I run low, so still fine by normal standards
Urine: fine
Heartrate: in the 140's
Weight: Down one lb. from last time, so this means I now weigh one lb less than my pre-pregnancy weight. So odd.
Size: The doctor said he was measuring "right on" for 33 weeks.

Good news: The doctor we saw thinks that he is now head down! I thought I would feel different or feel him turn or something, but he still feels the exact same to me. So I'm somewhat skeptical that he is really head down now. But the doctor felt around and said he could feel what he "thinks" is his head down low. He said they will be able to tell better around 36 weeks.

So my next appointment is in two weeks, and that is my last two-week'er....It's every week after that. CRAZY!

Surprise shower!

Yesterday Chris's co-workers threw him a surprise baby shower! He was shocked to say the least. They lured him to a different location under the guise of a breakfast meeting. He walked in and saw all the decorations, etc. After my OB appointment yesterday we stopped in his office and they had cake to continue the celebration.

I think the cake was totally adorable...the little baby is so cute!
One of his co-workers made this really cute diaper cake...it is even decorated in our colors, brown and blue.
This is just some of the stuff they got us! They really went all out...I was shocked as he kept hauling in bags when he got home! Plus they got us some stuff that wasn't just for the baby, like lotion for me, 2 boxes of Fannie Mae candy, and his cute t-shirt and mug.
And on top of all that, they got us a "big" gift which was the ExerSaucer.
They went all out and even had cute decorations:
And last but not least was Chris's favorite, his "Baby Daddy" t-shirt!
